3 Things to Look for in an Executive Coach

What do Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, and Mike Tyson all have in common?

They all had AMAZING COACHES!

If you want to speed up leadership development, an executive coach is a MUST.

But not anyone can be an EFFECTIVE executive coach... So it’s important you pick the RIGHT one.

Here are 3 things you should look for:

1. Success

Because coaching is an unregulated industry — you need to make sure the coach has gotten results before. You’ll want to ask for a few success stories and make sure their definition of success aligns with yours.

2. Personality

You can’t expect a leader to open up with someone they don’t feel comfortable with. Even if the coach has amazing qualifications and success stories — if their personality doesn’t fit, you’re better off looking elsewhere.

3. Specialties

Some coaches are strong generalists. While other coaches choose to focus on a few particular areas. This is why you’ll want to make sure the coach’s specialties align with your situation and challenges.

For example:

I specialize in helping leaders of cross-cultural, remote teams develop their Authentic Leadership + DEI skills. So if your team isn’t cross-cultural and remote(at least partially) — we might not be a good fit. And that’s okay!
